Training Seminar for High School Teachers: Methodology in Anticorruption Educaiton Instruction
On 12 and 13 November, 2004 Association "Elisaveta Klark and Penka Kasabova" organized a training seminar for 30 high-school teachers and administrative staff from two Sofia high schools: Commerce and Banking School and 135th Secondary School “An Amos Komenski”. The Ministry of Interior Opened a Web Page and a Hot Phone Line for Reporting of Corruption Cases
The Ministry of Interior of Bulgaria in cooperation with New Scotland Yard, Great Britain developed a Communication Strategy for Counteracting Corruption , aimed at officials and employees within the ministry, as well as at citizens. more »
Public Information Still Hard to Get, Five Country Survey Finds
A pilot survey monitoring freedom of information was conducted in Armenia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Peru and South Africa in September 2004. The survey marks one of the most comprehensive efforts yet to test the limits of government transparency. On average only 35 percent of requests for information were fulfilled. Many requests not explicitly rejected were simply ignored. more »
New Fellowship Program for Promoting Democracy
The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) invites applications to its Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellows Program. Information Day for Promoting the Ombudsman Institution in Rudozem Municipality
On 29 October, 2004 the Bulgarian Youth League "Stefan Stambolov - Smolyan organized an information day at Rudozem Municipality, Smolyan District. The information day was aimed at promoting the institution of the local public mediator (ombudsman). The event was organized under the project Face to Face with Corruption.
