Round table: Public-Private Partnership: institutional deficiencies and civic alternatives
On 16 May 2013 the Center for the Study of Democracy organized a roundtable in Varna on ‘Public-Private Partnership: institutional deficiencies and civic alternatives’. FLAGSHIP Project Launched
“Forward looking”, “grand societal challenges”, “foresight and scenarios approaches”, “evidence-based policy”, “multidisciplinary governance”. These are the key issues of a recently commenced research project, supported by the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission. A consortium consisting of research centres, think tanks, public policy institutes, universities and policy consulting companies, announces the launch of the Forward Looking Analysis of Grand Societal Challenges and Innovative Policies (FLAGSHIP) project. more »

Opening Conference of the SELDI network
On 5 March 2013 the SELDI network held its Opening Conference in Zagreb, Croatia. Public Discussion: Hidden Economy in Bulgaria 2011-2012
On 31 January 2013, the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Bulgaria, hosted a public discussion at the press center of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency, presenting the latest policy brief on the scope of the hidden economy in Bulgaria for the period 2011 – 2012. more »
 
Kick-Off Meeting of the 2012 IPA Financed Projects
On 21 January 2013 in Brussels DG Enlargement organized the kick-off meeting of the IPA Civil Society Facility financed projects. The Center for the Study of Democracy is coordinator of one of the financed projects, entitled Civil Society for Good Governance and Anti-Corruption in Southeast Europe: Capacity Building for Monitoring, Advocacy and Awareness Raising. The project has as an objective to continue the mission of the SELDI initiative. more »
 
Seminar: Regional Workshop: EU Anti-Corruption Report
On 11 December 2012, the first Regional Workshop on the preparation of the EU Anti-Corruption Report was held in Sofia, Bulgaria. It was organised by the European Commission, Directorate General Home Affairs. The purpose of the event was twofold: to informing relevant stakeholders of the structure, content and ongoing work of the EC on the first EU Anti-Corruption Report to be published in 2013. Secondly, the workshop aimed at gathering practical information from various partners on specific to their countries good and less effective practices in the fight against corruption. more »

On 18 October 2012 the Center for the Study of Democracy organized a round table on the topic “Strategy for Registration Reform: 10 Years Later”. Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Justice and other government agencies, prominent legal professionals, experts in the area of information technology, representatives of non-governmental organizations and the media. more »

On 28-29 September 2012, a conference on “Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline: Challenges and Prospects for the Black Sea countries and the Balkans” was held in Istanbul, Turkey. The event was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Foundation and included participants from Turkey, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, USA, and UK. more »
