Second National Innovation Forum
On 25 October 2005 the Center for the Study of Democracy and ARC Fund organized the Second National Innovation Forum. The Forum promotes dialogue among stakeholders in the country’s national and regional innovation systems and serves as a platform for exchange of ideas and cooperation between the government, business community and research organizations. more »
 
Round Table: Corruption and Tax Compliance
On 18 October 2005 the Center for Study of Democracy and Coalition 2000 organized a round table to present the analytical report Corruption and Tax Compliance. Policy and Administration Challenges. The Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Boyko Kotzev, made the opening remarks and stated that the Ministry of Interior applies effectively the best practices of the EU countries in preventing corruption within the Ministry. more »
 
International Conference: Balkan Parliament
On 12-17 October 2005 the American University in Bulgaria organized an international conference Balkan Parliament. Representatives of the academia, the governmental and non-governmental sector discussed a number of topics, among which fighting corruption in Southeastern and Central Europe. more »
 
Conference: Grey Economy and Undeclared Employment
During the conference, held on 9 and 10 September 2005, Mr. Todor Yalamov, Project Coordinator in the Economic Program of the Center for the Study of Democracy, presented the trends in hidden economy developments according to the Hidden Economy Monitoring System of Coalition 2000. more »
 
Videoconference on Hidden Economy and Corruption
On 9 September, 2005 the Center for Study of Democracy and Sofia Distance Learning Center hosted a videoconference titled Hidden Economy and Corruption, which was delivered to representatives of public and private sector organizations, donor community and NGOs in Kiev, Ukraine and Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. more »

On 18 July, 2005 the Center for Study of Democracy delivered a videoconference on Public Private Partnerships in Countering Corruption to participants at the Ukrainian Academy of Public Administration in Kiev and a group of development practitioners at the World Bank Country Office in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. more »

Videoconference: Investment Climate: Competitiveness and Poverty Reduction
On June 13, 2005 the Distance Learning Center at the Center for the Study of Democracy, jointly with the World Bank Country Office in Sofia, organized a videoconference discussion on one of the pillars of development - the creation of a better investment climate to create jobs and higher incomes. The lead speaker was Mr. Michael Klein, World Bank’s Vice-president for Private Sector Development. more »

Videoconference: Presentation of the World Development Report 2005
On April 18, 2005 Ms. Mary Hallward-Driemeier, Deputy Director for the World Development Report (WDR) presented the key issues of the 2005 WDR and its implications for the SEE countries at a videoconference at the Center for the Study of Democracy. The videoconference was opened by Mr. Oscar de Bruyn Kops, World Bank Country Manager for Bulgaria, and it connected representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, USA, and Macedonia. more »
