Meeting of the Sofia Economic Council
A meeting of the Sofia Economic Council took place on 2 December 2005 at the Sofia Municipality. The Center for the Study of Democracy is co-founder and member of the Council.

During the meeting representatives of the business and the academia discussed the possibilities for improving Sofia’s competitiveness and prosperity. They declared their willingness to continue and to further develop their involvement in the work of the Economic Council. The Mayor of Sofia, Mr. Boyko Borissov, declared his readiness for cooperation and supported the idea for long-term public-private partnerships, which are mutually beneficial both to the Sofia Municipality and the business sector. According to him in a city of limited public financial and human capacity such as Sofia the private sector can contribute more to its development by attracting investment and talent.
