Videoconference: Reforming the U.N. for a Safer World
On April 14, 2005 the Center for the Study of Democracy and Americans for Informed Democracy organized a videoconference on UN Secretary General Kofi Annan’s recent report for reforming the UN to better meet the security and human development needs of the 21st century. The participants were students from Bulgaria, USA, and Panama.

The Report of the UN Secretary General urges governments to "act boldly" and adopt "the most far-reaching reforms in the history of the United Nations". The proposed reforms include enlarging the Security Council, setting out rules on when it can authorize military force, and an agreed definition of terrorism.

The event was part of more than a dozen videoconference dialogues America and the World Together on America's role in the world between young leaders in the U.S. and young leaders in foreign countries.
