Ms Flint is Parliamentary Under Secretary for reducing organised and international crime, anti drugs coordination and international and European issues. Ms Flint was PPS to John Reid from 2002, having previously served as PPS to Peter Hain at the Foreign Office and DTI. She has been a member of the House of Commons Committees on administration, modernisation and the standing committee on the Antisocial behaviour Bill. She is chair and cofounder of the all party Parliamentary childcare group.
Caroline Flint is a former local government officer and was a senior researcher and political officer for the GMB 1991-1997.
Caroline Flint has a BA in American history literature and film studies from the University of East Anglia. She is married and has three children.
Mr Hughes was appointed Director General of SOCA in August 2004. Previously he was Director General of the National Crime Squad.
His career in the police force started in 1975 with Thames Valley Police. He rose through the ranks to become Assistant Chief Constable in West Yorkshire Police from 1991 to 1997. Mr Hughes then served as Deputy Chief Constable in Hertfordshire from 1997 to 2000 before joining the National Crime Squad. He is a member of Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), Vice Chair of ACPO Crime and business-head for the Intelligence and Organised Crime Sub-Group of that Committee. He is also the UK Head of Delegation at European Police Chiefs Task Force, Chairman of the G8 Lyon Group on law enforcement and Chair of High Level Reflex (UK multi-agency response to organised immigration crime). Mr Hughes was awarded the Queen's Police Medal in the 2001 Birthday Honours list.
