Public Discussions Corruption in the Higher Education
Corruption in the higher education was the major topic of two round tables held in the Technical University of Gabrovo and University of Plovdiv. The discussions took place on May 18, 2004 in the Technical University of Gabrovo and on May 20, 2004 in the Univerity of Plovdiv. The theme of the debates was Corruption in the System of Higher Education in Bulgaria – Myth or Reality.

The organizers of the round tables presented the results from an internet survey The Opinion of Students from Technical University in Gabrovo and Plovdiv University Paisii Hilendarski about Corruption in the Higher Education, which took place between March 19 and April 19, 2004. The debates provoked a high interest in both universities: the discussion in Gabrovo was attended by students and the entire university leadership; the discussion in Plovdiv was attended by representatives from all universities in the city: Agrarian University, University on Food Technology, Technical University of Plovdiv, Music and Dance Art Academy, Medical University.

The round tables were organized by the National Youth Organization for Social and Economic Development in the framework of their project National Students Initiative "I Do Not Bribe!", which is being implemented under the Civil society against corruption program of Coalition 2000.
